In today’s fast-paced world, visual content reigns king, especially when it comes to the social media landscape and blogging. Readers have short attention spans and want fast, easy-to-digest information. We see this trend through the sudden raging success of such visual platforms as Instagram, Snapchat, Periscope, and more in 2016.
It’s just as the saying goes, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Humans are visual creatures. In fact, it has been found that 90% of information that is transmitted to the brain is, in fact, visual. What’s more, the brain processes visual information 60,000 times faster than what it absorbs through text. So, it’s time to get on the visual bandwagon, and start incorporating more visuals into your blog posts to help strengthen the impact of your message. Here are three simple visual elements that you can add to your blog posts, today:
Photos – It may seem obvious, but you’d be surprised by how many bloggers and business owners fail to attach images to their posts. Incorporating photos into your written content is one of the easiest and best things you can do to enhance engagement. Photos break up static content and make posts more engaging for those visiting your site. This will also increase the amount of time a reader spends on your site giving them the chance to dig deeper.
Video – Incorporating video content will drive more engagement. Most people, or readers, when given the chance would rather watch a video than read a post. Attention spans are shorter than ever, so make your time with visitors count, and let your video do the talking.
Infographics – Graphics are easy to understand and are a great way to bring content to life. Whether used in a personal blog or a corporate blog, infographics, or charts, help to illustrate statistics, processes and highlight trends giving your audience a better chance of retaining the information presented.
